Pie 950 Pizza Tavern joins
Prickly Pear on W. Peachtree...

by hud report staff

In early 2008 Amore Mediterranean Restaurant & Lounge appeared on W. Peachtree in the Plaza Midtown. Owner Mansour Ismail had decorated the two-story, 8,000 sq. ft. space Alhambra-style with majestic mezzanine balconies, mosaic tile floors, a wood-fire oven bar, Corinthian columns, lofted ceilings, cozy booths, chandeliers, arches and a curved staircase. The decor outlived the concept and the doors were shuttered in early ‘09. By mid-2009 a portion of the elaborate space was purchased and converted with festive colors to a new Mexican-themed restaurant, Prickly Pear Taqueria & Tequila Bar. This month came the announcement of the opening of a second portion by the same owners, Pie 950 Pizza Tavern (touted as a ‘European Pizzeria’), now shares the former Amore space with Prickly Pear. Pie 950 Pizza Tavern is located at 950 West Peachtree Street, Suite 220, Midtown, 404.881.8884. For more info and hours visit STORY

Rexall Grill...

hud report staff

From the time it first opened in 1982, the Rexall Grill has provided good food, good service and good times to the patrons of this icon of a restaurant located in historic Duluth. Listed as one of Gwinnett County’s mainstays in the February 2003 Annual Report (The Atlanta Journal-Constitution), the Rexall Grill is known as a place to catch up on the latest happenings in Duluth. The Grill conveniently co-exists with a Pharmacy and Drugstore in the same building... just like old times. On May 1, 1994, the Grill was destroyed by fire. After three and a half months of construction and renovation, it was restored to the same ‘old place.’ Owner, Gail Herrin, claims those were the longest months of her life. Gail served food from a concession stand in the parking lot throughout the summer while the work was in progress. When the Grill finally re-opened in August, it was bigger and better than ever. The Rexall Grill has grown to over four times its original size since re-opening. The Rexall Grill is located at 3165 Buford Highway, Duluth, 770.623.8569. Hours are Tuesday – Friday 5:50 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. and Saturday 5:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. The Rexall Grill does not accept credit or debit cards. Visit for complete menus... FULL STORY
